Centre For Sustainablity

This is a combined initiative of Delhi International Model United Nations Association and the International Centre for Sustainable Development, to build a channel wherein we are able to bring together the members of the secretariat, delegates, and members of the press from conferences worldwide.

The aim is to work in unison to build a much stronger community at both, the local and the global level, and to empower the student community spread across the globe to act as a valuable stakeholder and contributor to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

After decades of MUNing culture, the organisations have realised that conferences such as the various UN simulations are now a recurring annual event wherein students and advisors take on the roles of the officials from the United Nations, whereas the world is in the dire need of students to wear the suit of responsibility yearlong. The MUN community has been criticised various times at various locations about how the concept of this simulation fails the purpose of educating its participants, and how it’s now a mere social gathering for people to fancy their resumés. However, that should not be the case.

The role of the DIMUN conference in the initiative is that of calling upon fellow secretariats and urging all members of the global MUN circuit to come together and help each other promote and contribute to the sustainability in our regions. The initiative, under the guidance and framework of the ICSD, shall operate globally to maximise the impact of social, economic, environmental and educational initiatives carried forward by the circuit and allied civil societies, non-profit organisations, non-governmental organisations, and the governments of the member states.

Our efforts are focused on empowering diversified leaders, expanding social innovation, and seeding change through public policy. We aim to build the right toolkits, the platform the share best practices and an online community taking care of digital wellbeing. The objectives are to provide a dynamic and interactive online space to share latest methodology, best practices, innovations, initiatives of individual conferences, appeals to fellow secretariats, and approaches to implementation of SDGs.

It is expected outcome of this initiative is a network of well-connected organizations and individuals from different sectors and regions to exchange, build partnerships, and make the impact of their solutions scale
